Orleans Parish School Board Officially Launches Search for Next Superintendent of NOLA Public Schools

(New Orleans – February 7, 2025) — The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) is pleased to announce the official launch of its search for the next Superintendent of NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS). This key leadership position offers a remarkable opportunity to guide a unique, diverse, and dynamic school system dedicated to equity, excellence, and innovation in public education.


NOLA-PS serves approximately 41,000+ students across more than 65 charter schools and one direct-run school, operating under a distinctive governance model that blends school autonomy with district accountability. The next Superintendent will play a critical role in fostering student success, ensuring high standards for academic achievement, and championing equitable educational opportunities for all children in New Orleans.


Position Overview: The OPSB seeks a visionary and results-driven leader who is deeply committed to educational equity and innovation. The Superintendent will be responsible for setting and implementing strategic priorities that align with the district's vision, including the NOLA-PS Evolve Strategic Plan, Five-Year Portfolio Plan, and Portrait of a Graduate. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for students, a collaborative leader, and a dynamic administrator with a proven track record of improving student outcomes, particularly in diverse and historically underserved communities.

Community Engagement and Timeline: The OPSB values community input in selecting the next leader for NOLA-PS. A public survey is open for feedback, and multiple community engagement events will be held throughout the selection process. Key dates include:


January 29, 2025 – Public hearing to gather community input.

March 20, 2025 – Selection of semi-finalists.

Week of March 31 – April 7, 2025 – Public engagement events with finalists.

April 17, 2025 – Final selection and contract approval for the new Superintendent.
