The Renewal Process

The renewal process is a standard evaluation that occurs during the final year of a charter school's contract to determine if the school will receive another contract for future operations. The assessment takes into account a school's School Performance Renewal Index (SPRI) and its growth relative to open admission schools within the city.

For most schools, the SPRI is calculated using the same data used for School Performance Scores, but with a greater weight for progress. Additionally, financial stability and organizational performance play pivotal roles in the renewal process.
