NOLA-PS Family Resource Centers Launch Virtual Appointment Pilot Project

(New Orleans, LA – November 15, 2023) — NOLA Public Schools' (NOLA-PS) Student Enrollment Services and Family Resource Centers teams are excited to introduce a groundbreaking pilot project designed to elevate customer service for families within NOLA-PS. This pioneering initiative, recommended by the Superintendent's Solutions Circle, introduces a state-of-the-art virtual appointment option to address families' inquiries and concerns through immersive video calls.

Enhancing Family Support

In response to valuable feedback gathered during stakeholder meetings, NOLA-PS's Student Enrollment Services Team is dedicated to providing top-tier service and expanding support options for families. To achieve this, the organization is launching virtual appointment availability on Fridays. Fridays were strategically chosen as the optimal day for virtual appointments due to significantly reduced in-office Family Resource Center visits, offering families unmatched convenience.

Seamless Scheduling

The virtual appointment scheduling process has been meticulously designed to be user-friendly and accessible. Families can conveniently access appointments via the Calendly scheduling tool on the NOLA-PS website (www.enrollnolaps.com/connect) and select their preferred time and language. To secure an appointment, they simply need to provide their child's name and birthdate, an email address is required for receiving Zoom invitations and confirmations, and a contact number for technical support. Additionally, families have the flexibility to check relevant boxes to aid Student and Community Advisors (SCAs) in preparing for the virtual session.

Expanding Capacity

Initially, eight SCAs will be available to facilitate virtual calls, with plans to expand this number to coincide with the opening of K-12 Main Round Enrollment Nov. 28. Each virtual appointment will last approximately 15 minutes and availability runs from 8:15 am - 12:00 pm, and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, resulting in a total of 103 available time slots for families to choose from.

NOLA-PS is embarking on an exciting journey towards revolutionizing family support within the school community. The virtual appointment pilot project marks a significant leap forward in providing adaptable and efficient support to cater to the diverse needs of our scholars and their families.
