NOLA Public Schools Statement on School Operations for Monday, January 26, 2026

(New Orleans – January 23, 2026) — The safety of our school community is our top priority. To that end, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is closely monitoring an incoming weather system expected to bring freezing temperatures, potential freezing rain, and hazardous conditions to the Greater New Orleans area over the weekend and into early next week.

Following discussions among district leadership and in coordination with local and regional partners, NOLA-PS does not plan to cancel school on Monday, January 26, 2026, at this time. The district remains committed to maintaining regular operations while prioritizing the safety of students, families, and staff.

NOLA-PS will continue to monitor developments closely in collaboration with city officials, emergency management authorities, and meteorologists. Updates will be provided promptly through official channels, including the NOLA-PS website (nolapublicschools.com), and social media accounts Facebook @NOLAPublicSchools, Instagram @nolaps, and X @NOLAPSchools. It's important to note schools will also directly reach out to families.

Families are encouraged to stay informed by regularly tuning into the local news and checking the official NOLA-PS channels, as well as their school's digital platforms to prepare for possible adjustments to the school day on Monday. In the event of any changes, notifications will be sent via school messaging systems, posted online, and shared with local media.
