NOLA Public Schools Releases K-12 Main Round of NCAP Results for 2023-2024 School Year

(New Orleans – March 27, 2023) – Today, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) released NOLA-PS Common Application Process (NCAP) placement results for grades K-12 for the 2023-2024 school year. Families can log-in and review those placement results by visiting: nola.ps/login.

The NCAP is the centralized school enrollment application process for Orleans Parish public schools. NCAP provides students and families with the opportunity to apply to schools citywide, and early childcare centers with publicly funded seats based on their child's unique needs and interests.

For the 2023-2024 school year, NOLA-PS received 8,423 applications for new placements in grades K-12. It's important to note K-12 applications were lower this year since the state scholarship program now has a separate application. Previously, applicants to scholarship programs in Orleans Parish used the NCAP.

●95% of sibling applicants were matched to their sibling's school.

●95% of Kindergarten and 9th grade applicants seeking a new placement received one, with 93% receiving one of their top three choices.

●>99% of eligible applicants to Kindergarten and 9th grade were placed at a sibling's school.

●Lower application volume reflects that the LDOE Louisiana Scholarship Program did not participate in NCAP. In past years, scholarship applicants were included in the total.

The results continue to demonstrate our commitment to equitable access for families to the schools of their choice. Most students participating in the NCAP process have been placed in one of their top three school choices; in nearly every case, our schools were able to admit siblings; and students entering Kindergarten or 9th grade were matched to schools they identified as a good fit.

"Our unique school system allows our families and their scholars to apply to the schools and educational programs that best suit their needs and interests," said NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams. "Providing options and expanding access for our scholars is the goal of our NOLA-PS enrollment team. They work hard to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and that our babies are able to equitably apply for a school where they can receive a high quality education."

Families may access their application results by logging into their NCAP Parent Portal account at nola.ps/login. If families need help accessing their NCAP results, they may contact the NOLA-PS enrollment team through the Help Desk: nola.ps/helpdesk.
