Grisela Alejandro Jackson
District 5
Grisela Alejandro Jackson is a mother, pastor’s wife, and businesswoman with a passion for education and a love for children. As a member of Historic Second Baptist Church, she served as a tutor for many years in the Saturday Morning Tutoring Program, a part of the Education Ministry. After Hurricane Katrina, she led the effort to restart and rebuild Lawrence D. Crocker Elementary School, with support and involvement from members of her church and other committed residents from the community. She most recently served as a board member of the New Orleans College Prep organization. She was appointed OPSB interim board member for District 5 on June 11, 2020, to fill a vacancy on the board. This appointment came at a time of the COVID-19 pandemic and worldwide civil unrest, in response to the systemic racism throughout our nation. A native of Puerto Rico and a New Orleanian since the age of eight, Mrs. Jackson attended Robert M. Lusher, Eleanor McMain and graduated from Alcee Fortier Senior High School in 1974. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Vassar College and an MBA from the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
