KaTrina Chantelle Griffin

District 4

Incoming OPSB Member: KaTrina Chantelle Griffin, the newly elected School Board Member for District 4, is a passionate advocate for her beloved city of New Orleans, committed to driving positive change, particularly for marginalized communities. Her journey has been shaped by her deep desire to give back to the community that has supported her, and her dedication to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

A certified mediator, KaTrina works tirelessly to improve relationships between communities and law enforcement through organizations such as the ReEntry Mediation Institute Louisiana (REMILA) and the New Orleans Community-Police Mediation Program. She understands that fostering dialogue is the first step toward systemic change.

Beyond mediation, KaTrina has made an indelible mark through her leadership in local organizations. She has served as Board President of the Collective Steps Project, advocating for mental and behavioral health resources for Black women and girls, and has been involved with the March of Dimes, NO AIDS Task Force, and the American Cancer Society. Her work has empowered individuals and improved lives throughout New Orleans.

As a leader within the National Black MBA Association and the National Association of University Women, KaTrina has helped provide scholarships, career resources, and STEM programs for local students. Her commitment to education and youth is unwavering.

KaTrina brings over 25 years of experience in banking, business and education.  She holds an MBA, a Graduate Certification in Accounting, and a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology.  Her extensive background in nonprofit development and financial management ensures she will be a strong advocate for our schools.

KaTrina has accomplished a lot in her life; however, her son, Iniko Jr. and her daughter, Karlee  are by far her greatest accomplishments.

KaTrina is committed to addressing truancy, advocating for equity in education, and improving teacher retention and compensation.
