We know vaccinations are the best tool we have against COVID-19. They keep our children healthy, safe and in school, where they can continue to learn, develop, and enjoy their friends. We are excited that the FDA and the CDC have greenlighted COVID-19 vaccines for all students, Kindergarten through High School, and at NOLA Public Schools, we are doing our part to connect our families to these lifesaving remedies.
Additionally, the COVID-19 vaccine will be added to the list of required immunizations for all students aged 5 years and up as of February 1, 2022. Families may claim an exemption to this requirement for philosophical, religious, or medical needs. Families may use this form to claim an exemption and submit to their students school (Spanish translation here. Vietnamese translation here).
On this page, you will find 1) our monthly schedule of vaccination drives for different age groups for students; and 2) access to other community resources to get vaccinated.
Our goal is to help bring vaccines to every child in our schools.
The Benefits of Getting Vaccinated
The benefits of vaccinations for children and families are sky-high:
- Vaccinations have shown to seriously reduce the chances of serious illness, hospitalization, and death among children and adults.
- Vaccinated children are also less likely to spread COVID-19 to vulnerable family members or unvaccinated peers.
- Vaccinated school children do not have to quarantine when they come into close contact with someone at school who has COVID-19. That way they don’t miss important classroom time, and their families don’t have to take off work to watch them at home.
