(New Orleans – March 09, 2023) – Three NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) teachers have achieved National Board Teacher Certification (NBCT) with 41 educators from NOLA-PS and across Louisiana successfully accomplishing the maintenance of certification process.


Congratulations to the following educators:


●Susan Kessler- KIPP Morial Primary - located in School District 1

●Rachel Becker - Benjamin Franklin High School - located in School District 3

●Christine Bornhorst – InspireNOLA's 42 Charter School - located in School District 7

The district's teachers are among 133,444 teachers who have achieved their NBCT and teach at the highest standards in the profession and impact culture and learning for vast numbers of students, schools, and communities.


Showing their deep commitment to student learning and the teaching profession. These accomplished National Board Certified Teachers will be recognized March 8, 2023 by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, joining a total of 1,957 teachers achieving National Board Certification in Louisiana demonstrating their passion for students and a commitment to impact teaching and learning in education.


In addition, Governor John Bel Edwards proclaimed March 8th as "Louisiana National Board Certified Teacher Day".


Study after Study has proven that the students of Board-certified teachers learn more — and the impact is greater for low-income students (www.nbpts.org). Every child should have the opportunity to learn from an accomplished teacher.


It is with great pride, NOLA-PS celebrates these teachers along with more than 2,814 teachers who became National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) and 8,064 teachers maintaining their certification in the 2021-2022 school year.
