NOLA Public Schools to Close Wednesday & Thursday Ahead of Tropical Storm Francine

Early Dismissal Tuesday, Sept. 10

(New Orleans – September 9, 2024) — NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) has announced that all schools and the Central Office will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, and Thursday, September 12, as a precautionary measure ahead of Tropical Storm Francine's expected landfall.

Additionally, all schools will have early dismissal on Tuesday, September 10, to allow families and staff time to prepare for the storm. Families are encouraged to contact their individual schools for specific dismissal times. For The Leah Chase School, the district's only direct-run school, early dismissal will be at 12:30 PM on Tuesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday's closures are intended to provide families adequate time to make necessary preparations and stay safe, particularly in light of potential flooding and other hazards in the aftermath of the storm.

NOLA-PS will continue to closely monitor the storm's progress and work with local and state officials to address recovery efforts. District leaders will assess the impact of the storm on Thursday and share reopening plans once evaluations are complete.

We urge everyone to remain alert and follow updates from the City of New Orleans. All storm-related announcements will be posted on the NOLA-PS' website and official social media channels.

Stay safe and continue to monitor official sources for further information.
