The District's School Performance Score improved more than 2 points, and 92% of NOLA Public Schools received a progress index score of "A" or "B".
(NEW ORLEANS – November 21, 2025) – Today, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released the School Performance Scores (SPS) for the 2024-2025 school year. Over 91% of NOLA Public Schools received a high letter grade for academic progress, either an "A" or "B", for the 2024-2025 school year. These accomplishments result in the school system increasing to a "B" rated system for performance overall.
"I'm thrilled and incredibly proud of our scholars, their families, educators, and our school leaders for the amazing work they've done to elevate NOLA-PS to a B-rated school system! I extend my gratitude to our families who have entrusted us with their children's education and for their partnership in our success. This achievement is a testament to our steady progress and commitment to a thriving public education system in New Orleans," said Dr. Fateama Fulmore, Superintendent of NOLA Public Schools. "From 2022 to 2025, the overall District Performance Score has increased by 9.6 points, from a 66.6 to a 76.2. Our district has not only surpassed its pre-COVID-19 student performance levels, but we've also achieved the highest District Performance Score ever under the current SPS model. Today, we celebrate these gains, and NOLA-PS will continue to build upon this solid foundation to ensure all our students grow, achieve, and thrive as we continue on our journey to be recognized as a national model of excellence and the destination for education in New Orleans."
The 2024-2025 SPS results shared by the LDOE summarize the cumulative impact of our local schools, specifically showing:
- Strong improvement year over year, the District's overall score increased for the fourth consecutive year. NOLA Public Schools saw an increase in its District Performance Score (DPS) of more than 2 points from 2024 and increased its overall letter grade to a "B".
- Several district schools demonstrated growth. From 2024 to 2025, 34 schools (52%) showed an overall improvement in their SPS, ranging from 0.4 points to 14 points, including one alternative school that improved by 10 points.
- Students in NOLA Public Schools continue to make meaningful progress year over year. 92% of NOLA Public Schools received progress letter grades of "A" or "B".
- Several schools have been recognized for their outstanding impact on student growth and helping historically disadvantaged students excel. 24 NOLA Public Schools received Top Gains Honoree recognition, and 10 schools were named Opportunity Honorees.
Thirteen schools improved by at least one letter grade.
"NOLA-PS has reached a significant milestone, earning a 'B' rating as a school district for the first time since unification. This progress is promising, and we are motivated to aim even higher. Our achievements are the result of high-quality instruction, dedicated and well-prepared staff, intentional investments, strategic partnerships, and a culture of care for our children," said Dr. Fulmore. "Alongside school leaders, NOLA-PS will continue to pursue excellence in education because that is what students, families, and the New Orleans community deserve."
Each year, schools and school systems in Louisiana receive report cards with school performance scores and corresponding A-F letter grades. The report cards, which can be viewed via the online Louisiana School Finder, communicate how well schools are preparing scholars for the next grade level by examining student performance measures and providing insight into what academic and non-academic offerings schools provide.
