(New Orleans – April 30, 2026) – Today, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) released its NOLA-PS Common Application Process (NCAP) Main Round placement results for Early Childhood for the 2026-2027 school year. Families can log-in and review those placement results by visiting: apply.avela.org/nolaps.
Early childhood enrollment in New Orleans aims to provide families with access to high-quality early learning and childcare options for infant to Pre-K 4 learners. NOLA-PS manages a unified enrollment system in partnership with organizations like Agenda for Children, by guiding families through available programs such as publicly funded childcare centers, Head Start, and public school preschools.
Early Childhood Main Round
For the 2026-2027 school year, NOLA-PS received 10,261 applications – which are 10,261 individual choices – from 4,466 applicants for new placements in early childhood. Families who applied during the Early Childhood (EC) Birth - 4 year old Main Round and completed verification can view their placement results today. Of the applications, 3,685 applicants completed their applications and were able to be successfully verified. Approximately 91% of the placed applicants, received their first choice.
Due to the timing of the state's seat allocations, the following funding sources received placements during main round:
- Early Head Start
- Head Start
- LA4
- NSECD
- Tuition (Family Pays)
Families Still Seeking an Early Childhood School Placement
Families who did not participate in the Main Round or would like to change their Main Round placement can participate in Open Enrollment, which begins Monday, June 1st.
Interested families will apply through the Avela portal and must meet eligibility requirements. Eligible families will be added to waitlists and seats will be filled after June 1st and throughout the 26-27 school year.
