NOLA-PS to Hold Virtual Public Meeting on Virtual Distance Learning Policy

(New Orleans – December 9, 2020) – Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Article 7, Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and LSA-R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public meeting held by the administration of the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) will be held virtually on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 6:00 PM to review NOLA Public Schools' (NOLA-PS) Virtual Distance Learning Policy, which is designed to bring alignment to suspension and expulsion appeals in a virtual setting for schools directly operated by the District. The Board will vote on the policy at its next board meeting Thursday, December 17 at 5:30PM.

Please note this is not a meeting of the board, but rather a meeting being held by the Discipline Review Committee. This committee was voted upon and approved by the board during its special board meeting Dec. 8, 2020.

Pursuant to Executive Proclamations JBE 2020-30, 2020-33, and LSA-R.S. 42:17.1 or further executive orders or declarations of emergency, this shall serve as certification that in light of the spread of COVID-19 the Orleans Parish School Board was unable to operate due to quorum requirements in compliance with LSA-R.S. 42:19 and will be meeting via teleconference on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 6:00 PM. The virtual meeting will be viewable on Zoom video conferencing. Public comments will be heard and can be accessed via the "raise hand" feature at the bottom of the website. During the meeting, the meeting moderator will announce the speaker at the appropriate time. The speaker will self-identify with the "raise hand" feature at the bottom of the web page, and the meeting moderator will unmute the audio.

Information on joining the teleconference will be provided 24 hours in advance via https://nolapublicschools.com/community/board-info.
