(New Orleans – October 27, 2020) – The NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) family is deeply saddened by the passing of visionary educator, Harold Clay.

Mr. Clay, a lifelong educator and proud father, worked tirelessly to create a student centered culture within every school he served. He was a stabilizing force and served as school leader of three historically acclaimed high schools in New Orleans.

“I knew Mr. Clay personally as an educator, a brother in the fraternal sense, and above all, as a father,” said Board President, Ethan Ashley. “This is a significant loss to our community that is felt by many both near and far. He was filled with energy, purpose, and was always focused on moving the ball for our students academically, mentally and emotionally. He took pride in his work as an educator and always let the world know that his love for his own children fueled his passion for all of the students he served.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Clay’s family, his students, colleagues, and everyone in our school community that his work has impacted.
