1.1 Call to Order – Roll Call

The Orleans Parish School Board Retreat was called to order at 10:09 a.m. by President Katherine Baudouin. The following board members were present: Katherine Baudouin, Ethan Ashley, Dr. Donaldo R. Batiste, Nolan Marshall, Jr., and Carlos Luis Zervigon. Leila Jacobs Eames and Olin G. Parker were  absent. Board Counsel Ashley Heilprin was also present.

-Interpretation services were acknowledged.

 

1.2 Rules for Public Comment

Board Counsel provided a high-level overview of the OPSB guidelines for public comment/participation at OPSB Meetings.

 

1.3 Adoption of the Agenda

Motion by Mr. Ashley, second by Mr. Zervigon to adopt the agenda as provided.

2.1 Welcome and Introductions, Agenda Review

President Baudouin provided opening remarks.

 

2.2 New State Accountability Standards: Key Aspects and What They Mean for NOLA-PS

Holly Reid, New Schools for New Orleans, offered context for the new state accountability standards and implications of key provisions for NOLA-PS.

 

2.3 Working Lunch

Facilitated dialogue led by Tramelle Howard, The Education Trust.

 

2.4 Roles and Responsibilities for Board Members in a Hybrid District: Effective Oversight, Communicating Goals/Expectations, Best Practices for Self-Evaluation

Facilitated conversation led by Tramelle Howard regarding governance and oversight, communications and engagement, as well as board evaluation.

 

2.5 Closing Reflections

Concluding observations were offered.

Motion by Mr. Marshall, second by Mr. Parker to adjourn the meeting.
