1.1 Call to Order – Roll Call
The Orleans Parish School Board Public Hearing: Comprehensive Evaluations for Renewal was called to order at by President Olin G. Parker at 5:31pm. The following board members were present: Olin G. Parker, Carlos Luis Zervigon, Ethan Ashley, Leila J. Eames, and Nolan Marshall, Jr. Dr. Donaldo Batiste and Katherine Baudouin were absent. Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams and Board Counsel Ashley Heilprin were also present.
-Interpretation services were acknowledged.
1.2 Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Parker.
1.3 Adoption of the Agenda
Motion by Ms. Eames, second by Mr. Zervigon to approve the agenda as amended with the deletion of Presentation Item 3.4 Walter L. Cohen College Prep High School Comprehensive Evaluation Presentation. Board Counsel deferred to Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams to provide an explanation.
Dr. Avis Williams acknowledged receipt of and read correspondence from Patrick Norton, chairperson, New Orleans College Prep board of directors, indicating NOCP’s withdrawal of its Notice of Intent to seek renewal of its charter to operate Walter L. Cohen College Prep High School.

PURPOSE OF HEARING
2.1 Orleans Parish School Board Public Hearing Charter Renewal Presentations
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to allow the comprehensive evaluation schools an opportunity to present to the Superintendent, Board and Public available data points that support their request for a contract renewal. The public will have an opportunity to comment, and Board Members will have an opportunity ask questions.

3.3 Langston Hughes Academy Comprehensive Evaluation Presentation
Board Comment
Robust discussion ensued following each presentation with regard to student academic performance; student populations; student enrollment levels; impact of student academic performance relative to COVID 19; student support; academic and non-academic programming; matriculation of students post-elementary school and counseling around high school selection; academic interventions, especially for ELA and math; meaning and implications of equity within K-12 education; future participation of charter school board members in the renewal process; and the board’s request for the submission by each school of disaggregated data by subgroups, demographics to the district.

· Craig R. Elzy, middle school assistant principal, expressed support for Langston Huges Hughes Academy.

Motion by Mr. Marshall, second by Mr. Zervigon to adjourn the public hearing.
