Motion to adopt the Board meeting agenda as amended to move 5.2 Executive Session Item to Action Item 4.1.

3. INFORMATION

 

Information: 3.2 Facility Siting Updates

RSD plans to return McDonogh15, AP Tureau, Gaudet to OPSB and return Avery Alexander site upon substantial completion for Capdeau

 

Information: 3.3 2017 Charter Renewals

Information - Renewals as attached

Ms. Cade questioned Moton's renewal and why 4 years. Ms. Hastiotis explained reasons for reduction from 6 yrs to 4 yrs. Due to deficiency over Special Education and other items during the course of contract. Ms. Cade asked if could be modified- policy states that board has 30 days to modify with 2/3 vote of the board.
Terri Smith Encore Academy and Shawn Torranto, Einstein spoke on behalf of their schools.

 

4. ACTION ITEMS

 

Action: 4.1 Lake Forest Elementary Charter School Corporation and Education for Arts-based Education Corporation v. Orleans Parish School Board and Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr., In His Official Capacity as Superintendent, USDC EDLA No. 16-cv-02323; Injunctive Relief

 

Attorney Mr. Brent Barrios, Hayman Fishgood updated Lusher Lake Forrest litigation issue. Dismissal without prejudice. Have agreed not to pursue for term of their contracts (2021) as long as MFP funding is not reduced by excess of 1% from the 2016-2017 formula. Does not restrict board action on implementation of formulas.

 

That the Orleans Parish School Board approves the stipulation regarding the plaintiff's dismissal of this matter as recommended by the General Counsel.

That the Orleans Parish School Board adopts the fiscal resolution 33-16 authorizing the first (1st) amendment to the General Fund Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 3016. Waive Reading

That the Orleans Parish School Board adopts the fiscal resolution 34-16 authorizing the first (1st) amendment to the General Fund Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016 and ending June 30, 3017. Waive Reading.

Action: 4.4 Donation from Dollar General

It is recommended that the Orleans Parish School Board accept the donation from Dollar General expressly for the use of purchases towards school literacy enhancement programs at Eleanor McMain Secondary School in the amount of $2500.00.

Action: 4.5 OPSB/RSD MOU Re: Payment for EnrollNOLA

 

To authorize the General Counsel and Administration to negotiate and enter into an MOU with the RSD for OPSB to pay a per-pupil cost to the RSD for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years.

Action: 4.6 Donation from Dennis Photofinish Limited

 

It is recommended that the Orleans Parish School Board accept the donation from Dennis Photofinish Limited expressly for the use of homecoming expenses at Eleanor McMain Secondary School in the amount of $1,000.00.

Action: 4.7 Donation from New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation

 

It is recommended that the Orleans Parish School Board accept the donation from New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. expressly for the use of the performing arts programs at Eleanor McMain Secondary School in the amount of $4,000.00.

Action: 4.8 Donation from the Louisiana High School Athletic Association

 

It is recommended that the Orleans Parish School Board accept the donation from the Louisiana High School Athletic Association for the express use of the All Star Football game between Orleans and Jefferson parish in the amount of $3,000.00.

Action: 4.9 Partial suspension of OPSB Policy BBA, Officers of the School Board

 

That the Orleans Parish School Board suspends that certain provision of Policy BBA that requires the School Board to elect officers at its regular meeting in January of each year and that the School Board authorizes the election of officers to occur during the special inauguration meeting to be held in January 2017.
